Aging

Everyone's Doing It

Aging is inevitable. The effects, unfortunately, are most noticeable on the skin.

There are two forms of aging:

Instinsic aging- this is the aging that is caused by the genes we inherit. This includes fine lines, wrinkles, loss of fat, the slowing down of cell turnover and less collagen and elastin in the skin.

Extrinsic aging- this is aging caused by environmental factors. Such factors include sun exposure, smoking, gravity and repetitive facial expressions.

To prevent premature aging there are a few things you can do. Of course eating right and exercising on a regular basis really helps to maintain a healthy skin. Avoiding prolonged sun expose is key. Now I’m not saying you can never go in the sun but when you do make sure your protecting yourself. Photo-damage is the #1 cause of premature aging. Sun protection, sun glasses and hats are a must!
Topical vitamin A and a great sun block, in my opinion, is the most effective anti-aging combination. There are many forms of vitamin A and seeing a professional to determine which would be right for your skin is highly recommended as some forms of vitamin A can be very irritating to the skin. When looking for a sun block I highly recommend one with Zinc. Zinc is non-irritating to most skin types and is highly effective in blocking the harmful rays of the sun.
